Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Skills:

  • Architect and design cloud-based data solutions using AWS services such as S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, EMR, and Athena.
  • Lead end-to-end data migration projects from on-premises or legacy systems to AWS, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance optimization.
  • Develop data ingestion, transformation, and processing pipelines using Apache Airflow for orchestration and Python for data manipulation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define the data architecture roadmap, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with business goals.
  • Establish and enforce data modeling standards, best practices, and reusable frameworks for data integration and governance.
  • Work closely with DevOps teams to enable CI/CD automation, version control, and deployment pipelines for data solutions.
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval strategies, ensuring cost-effective and performant architecture across multiple data zones (raw, curated, and analytics).
  • Implement data quality and lineage frameworks, integrating tools like AWS Glue Data Catalog, Collibra, or Alation.
  • Design and manage data migration blueprints, mapping legacy data models to target AWS architecture.
  • Provide technical leadership for cross-functional teams, ensuring adherence to architectural guidelines and performance KPIs.
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and guide teams on Python-based ETL best practices.
  • Work with business analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8–12+ years of experience in data engineering, or ETL development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS Cloud, including services such as:
    • S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, EMR, Kinesis, Step Functions, and Athena.
  • Advanced Python programming skills for building ETL pipelines, data wrangling, and automation.
  • Expertise in Apache Airflow – DAG design, task dependencies, scheduling, and performance tuning.
  • Proven experience leading data migration projects from on-premises databases or legacy systems to AWS.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, data lakes, and data warehouse design patterns (Kimball/Inmon).
